Billy Brown
Owner, Big Easy Ranch

Billy Brown, the owner of Big Easy Ranch, hails from Louisiana, but his heart is as big as Texas.

In the past, Billy, a robust and healthy man, faced a devastating blow when he got diagnosed with prostate cancer. The moment the word "cancer" echoed from the doctor's mouth, Billy refused to accept it. He made the firm decision to fight the good fight. Armed with persistence, education, and the outstanding medical team at MD Anderson Cancer Center, Billy triumphantly conquered his cancer diagnosis!

As Billy discovered, cancer touches every one of us in some way. Motivated by gratitude, he resolved to give back to the cancer community and support the doctors and researchers who played a crucial role in saving his life. The Billy Brown Charitable Foundation was born, and Billy rallied Members of Big Easy Ranch to join him in his mission. In 2018, the inaugural Big Easy Ranch Shoot Out kicked off.

This high-profile tournament initially started as a 9-hole golf event paired with a 10-station sporting clay competition, complemented by a raffle, wine dinner, and a live auction featuring guest speakers. The pandemic forced a two-year hiatus in 2020 and 2021, but the tournament made a strong comeback in 2022, raising an impressive $400,000 for cancer research.

With a formidable Board of Advisors and a dedication to fundraising, the Members of Big Easy Ranch, their corporate sponsors, and their guests have collectively raised more than $1.8 million since the event's inception with $500,000 raised in 2024, the biggest year to date!

In 2023, the tournament underwent a transformation, featuring an 18-hole golf tournament on The Covey and a separate sporting clay tournament, both accompanied by a raffle, wine dinner, and live auction with distinguished guest speakers.

Join us in this crucial event as a sponsor, donor or tournament participant.

All proceeds from this fundraising initiative directly benefit The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center - Department of Immunology.
